Preview: Metal Part II!

Recently, DCUO held a livestream previewing Episode 36: Metal Part II for the first time! Mepps, NerdOfPrey & Red Five, Megzilla and Jackster took us for far beyond into space, showcasing the large brand new area of Thanagar, where open-world missions will take place, and then into the areas of 2 Player Duo Operation, 4 Player Alert Operation, and two 8 Player Raids! The Thanagarian structures were quite a sight to see, as were the nearby planets and Thanagarian ships visible in the sky, not to forget the giant cannon they possess!

Metal Part II brings the first Tier 10 Episode content, and will rock our universe on Live Server next month in December, and is currently on Test Server right now!

Damaged Lantern & Elite Style

After you get your bearings in the new open-world area of Thanagar, once you meet with Hawkgirl and receive your first set of daily missions, you can complete the “Metal Pt. II: Batscape” 2 Player Operation where it continues the story set up by Metal Part II and delves into Batman’s mind, finding yourselves at the Oblivion Bar, then entering Batman’s mind to see what the Dark Knights did to his psyche. Then you gain access to “Metal Pt II: Damage Control” 4 Player Operation, that takes us to Oan Sciencells after quite a long time, this time facing The Dawnbreaker with metallized Lantern Corps members, and then back under the sea into Silent School to face The Drowned and her Dead Water minions! The story continues and concludes in “Metal Pt II: Phoenix Cannon” & “ Metal Pt II: Into the Dark Multiverse” 8 Player Raids, the first features a new interior area of Thanagar where Hawkgirl is warped into Lady Blackhawk, as the Justice League races against time to prevent cultists from utilizing the cannon from decimating Earth, and the second which we traverse the Dark Multiverse to the World Forge in order to take on the Batman Who Laughs’ game, Forgemaster Hawkman, (Hawkman that was warped by Barbatos as its replacement as the dragon that guards the World Forge,) and Barbatos along with wearing Tenth Metal armor while fighting several other enemies! All Metal Part II content requires CR 276+ for Members/Episode owners, and Level 15+ for the Event versions for all to play until the next Episode releases.

Battle-Hawk & Enhanced Style

Among the new content introduced in this Episode, a number of new Dark Knight characters and updated character styles will take flight! The Dawnbreaker, (Earth -32 Batman that overpowered a Green Lantern ring on the night his parents died and outright killing his enemies including every Lantern and Guardian,) The Drowned, (Earth -11 Batwoman version of Batman that grafted Atlantean DNA onto her in order to defeat invading Atlanteans lead by Aquawoman after the death of her love, Sylvester Kyle,) both of whom come from universes in the Dark Multiverse, destined to be destroyed, and Barbatos, (the original, now corrupted dragon that guarded the World Forge where universes were once created,) all appear for the first time! Hawkgirl and Hawkman receive new appearances to coincide with their Rebirth appearances, as well as brand new Metal versions of their appearances where they were warped by Barbatos, with Hawkgirl into Lady Blackhawk and Hawkman into Forgemaster Hawkman, all during their own 80th anniversary this year! The new Rare Drop/Event Vendor Battle-Hawk Style Predatory Gear is based on partially both Hawkman while the helmet is of an evil Thanagarian, (which he eternally fights in his mind in the “Dark Nights Hawkman Found” comic while in reality he was transformed into Forgemaster Hawkman,) and the Vendor Damaged Lantern Style Lethal Blackout Gear is based on The Dawnbreaker! The returning Common/Uncommon Drop is Winged Fury Style Harrier Gear, both sold for Thanagarian Marks! The Bat God style Waist of Omnipotence this Episode will also be based off Barbatos, which will likely drop in the second Raid and requires the same opening process as Dark Robin’s Gift.

Also launching with Metal Part II are 5 new Metal Artifacts, as we highlight their current Rank 0 information above with links to DCUO Forum’s Artifact Testing Feedback threads!
Be sure to check our Artifacts Guide as it is continually updated as new Artifacts release, as is our Augments Guide, already with the latest details on Thanagarian Exobytes!

Developers Batuba, Charon, Oceans also joined in Twitch chat, (get well soon Oceans!)

With all that was revealed, both Metal Part II Teaser: Thanagar! & Metal Part II Teaser: Dead Water! were exactly what we expected and beautifully in a twisted Metal way, brought to life! Our FIRST guess, made way back in September when SJ “NerdOfPrey” Mueller was at Kinda Funny Games, purely based on Metal comics was also the exact area where the Episode’s final raid takes place as well, the World Forge!

Additionally at the end of the Livestream, Megzilla elaborated on Raven’s new Rebirth style, (which we also absolutely love!) covered in Game Update 99 - Raven!

Want to find out more about Thanagarian Marks? Check our Currency Guide which has already been updated for the new Episode content!

We just have a few more weeks to be ready to journey to space, inside the mind of the Batman, the depths of the seas and the Dark Multiverse itself!

NOTE: Currently both “Phoenix Cannon” & “Into the Dark Multiverse” 8 Player Raids will be added to Test Server next week to provide enough time testing all content!

The Broken Lantern style is the DCUO Episode 36 end game "Blackout" vendor gear style. The style is inspired by The Dawnbreaker, a version of Batman from another version of Earth who is featured in the DC Metal storyline and who makes his debut in DC Universe Online Episode 36: Metal Part 2.

The Hawkman inspired "Battle-Hawk" Style is the Rare Drop and Event Gear style for DC Universe Online Episode 36: Metal Part 2. This style is available via two methods. The first method to obtain this style is as a rare purple gear drop in all loot situations that reward gear in Episode 36.
