Cash Trade and Broker Restrictions

On Tuesday December 3rd, 2019 after Server Restarts, DCUO Players found themselves not able to trade Cash, the in-game currency, to one another. Players were greeted with this “Upgrade” Box upon attempting trading cash. Those with Legendary Members were getting these messages too.

Mailing Cash was still available but it was a day of silence until late afternoon when Mepps made the post below:

A number of players were affected voicing their concerns and appeals on the Forums, Social Media, and Youtube. From those reports, players were given a 14 Day Suspension from the game. What happens to their money and or items is unknown as well. Mepps has also given some information regarding those that wanted to appeal. If you want to appeal the ban, be sure to head over to the DCUO Support Site and open a Customer Support Ticket.

On Tuesday the Cash Trading was restricted and as of Wednesday December 4th, 2019, they also restricted access to the Broker. How long these restrictions will last is unknown at this time. This is all stemming from the player base wanting the DCUO Devs to do something about the broken economy currently affecting the US PC/PS Platform. Currently the Xbox or Switch Platforms are not affected by these restrictions.

Since the release of the newest Time Capsule, Dark Multiverse, the prices on the Broker have begun to increase in price at an alarming rate the Community picked up very quickly. There were murmurs of a Money Glitch but no information was coming forth. The Community have been very vocal of their dislike of the current Economy and the DCUO Devs have finally begun an investigation into the matter.

The restricting of Cash Trading was the first step and now the Broker being restricted has everyone wondering whats going to happen next. With the Broker locked down, items currently on Sale are expected to return to the player. It at least thats our expectation. Whether the Fees are refunded there’s no information about that.

There’s currently a lot of speculation going on as this investigation continues by the Devs. At the moment the only trading that can happen is Item for Item or trading an item but having the person mail the amount before or after agreeing to the trade. Some believe its a steep course to go, especially with the Bans that were done, but many agree that the Devs at least doing something is helpful and a course in the right direction. What will happen after the restrictions is anyone’s guess. Players have given numerous suggestions to Caps on the Broker or even a Cash Cap to individual players. A favored suggestion is an account wide Cash system or allow Cash sharing among Alts tied to the Shared Bank.

We’ll update the Article as this Investigation continues.
