Game Update 88: Cursed Gotham Time Capsule, New Item Grant UI, Trick or Teekl Buckets & More!

Game Update 88 (GU88) launched today with a slew of brand new updates for DCUO! Ushering in these new features were NerdofPrey, Megzilla & JayHawk, with brief appearances of Oceans in a DCUO Twitch livestream that occurred right before the servers came back up with all the new goodies in time for Halloween! They went into detail of all the work that goes into making all of the items we use in game, making for a very informative stream. Although GU88 did not contain the PC Graphic Quality update, it will come in a later GU, and we did get a myriad of fixes, concerning the movement mode tree abilities, minimap, broker performance among others, can be viewed here.

First off, the livestream showed off the contents of the new Cursed Gotham Time Capsules! They include the following:

  • Vampiric Visage Collection

  • Runic Hand Aura Collection

    • Runic Hand Aura Box cache that includes all of the following:

    • Gold, Blue, Teal, Purple, Red Runic Hand Auras

  • Corrupted Tattered Cloak Collection

  • Various New Auras & Materials

    • Various New Auras & Materials, randomly rewards one of the following recolors:

    • Green Doomed Aura (Automatically receive via mail after opening 15)

    • Red Kryptonite Aura

    • Purple Blighted Aura (Purple variant of Corrupted Aura)

    • Blue Mystic Aura (Blue variant of Diamond Mist Aura)

    • Red Doomed Aura

      • Modular Auras versions of the above

    • Green Hacker Material

    • Blue Phoenix Material

    • Red Phoenix Material

    • Gold Time Torn Material

    • Yellow Forcefield Material

    • Green Iridescent Material

    • Blue Iridescent Material

    • Blue Spark Material (Blue variant of Negative Speedforce Material)

  • Enhanced Drowned Gear

  • Drowned Gear (Inspired by Batman: The Drowned!)

  • Nth Metal, Marks of Victory, Quarks

Also tied to the new Trick or Teekl Buckets, there is a brand new Item Grant UI that comes with GU88! You can use the new Grant System window by selecting the “View Grants” tab at the bottom of the Welcome Screen or through the Actions Quick Menu if there are available rewards to claim.

Finally, the first daily gifts per account we are rewarded today are three “Trick or Teekl Bucket” items! Candy items that provide unique XP only for these new artifacts rank them up from only Rank 0 to 1, requiring 150 XP to rank up that drop from enemies, and once you do reach Rank 1, can consume the item much like a collection using right click with a mouse or X on a controller to open it for a chance at a variety of items. They can also be purchased from the Halloween Vendor for 2 Spooky Bites.

Now, with the consumable candies that you were able to obtain since 2011 also dropping from the Trick or Teekl Buckets, they have added 3 brand new trick or treat feats, based off the consumable items you were able to obtain since 2011, lifting the feat cap from 25 to include a 50, 75, and 100 requirement, all being 1 star or 10 feat points each, although oddly, if you already have the 25 feat, will need to get start all the way from 0 again.
